Why Takealot rejects product images, and how to fix it

If even one image fails, the whole product in that upload is rejected.

The background isn't pure white

Use pure white, #FFFFFF. Off-white or light grey gets rejected.

It's a transparent PNG

Save it as a JPG, or a PNG on a white background.

The product is too small or too big

Make it fill 85–95% of the frame.

The image is too small

Make it at least 600px on every side, up to 5000px.

Rough edges or fake-looking shadows

Clean up the cut-out. Use a light shadow, or none.

It's too bright to see the product

Fix the exposure so every detail on the pack is clear.

It's an illustration or drawing

Use a photo or a photo-real image of the real product.

It shows things that aren't in the box

Show only what the customer gets.

Borders, watermarks or promo text

Remove them. Size, flavour or pack count is fine.

The packaging looks used or damaged

Use a clean, new-looking pack.

Not enough images, or duplicates

Upload 5 or more different images.

Takealot image rules by category

• Food: a 360-degree view with a readable back label, in English.
• Supplements and medicine: a real photo of the pack showing the ingredients.
• Fitness and nutrition: show the nutritional information.
• Cosmetics and paint: swatches on secondary images only.
